Never a day goes by I don’t regret not maxing out the RAM in my computer. My AMD Sempron box uses DDR1 sticks and I’ve got 512MB x 2 which makes it 1GB. One gigabyte of RAM was enough three years ago. Then again I was only photoshopping pictures downloaded from a 4 megapixel digital camera at that time. 3 years later, these days I’m messing around with 4-6 megabytes files from a Nikon D40x and it slows my PC down to a crawl. It’s very frustrating you’re rushing to touch up a batch of photos in time for the printers. Instead of upgrading DDR1 RAM, which is so much more expensive compared DDR2 these days, I’m anxiously waiting for my bonus and get myself a Core 2 Duo PC, with 4GB computer memory and a 22″ LCD monitor *drool*. And if there’s any spare cash left, I might even be tempted by an ultra portable ASUS Eee PC so that I have a proper tool to blog with anywhere anytime I feel like it.
• Vinyl instead of wooden shutters
May 7, 2008My in-laws house underwent some minor work to repair some old wooden shutters. 15 years of rain and shine took it’s toll on them. The shutters are barely usable and if not repaired, it might just break apart when you least expect it. Instead of replacing the wooden shutters with wooden ones again, they used [...]

• Rowena Razak Baginda

May 1, 2008IMO, Ahmad Shabbery Cheek’s threatening to cancel parliament live-telecast is denying my rights, as a Malaysia citizen, to view parliament proceedings. • A business startup that didn’t come through
May 1, 2008You know, years ago I’ve thought about starting a business that does open captioning, closed captioning, webcast captioning, video subtitles or DVD subtitles. From transcription to encoding, anything that has to do with subtitling. My friend and I shared the same enthusiasm but we lack follow through. We couldn’t find the right people for the [...]

• Wordpress 2.5.1 - Image Uploading crashes Firefox on Kubuntu
May 1, 2008I skipped WordPress 2.5 hoping any major bugs would be squashed when 2.5.1 is released. Yesterday, I upgraded all my WordPress blogs to 2.5.1. While I was familiarising myself with the new admin dashboard interface, I thought it’s not too shabby. It’s different in a lot of ways, but I could see myself getting used to [...]

• Malaysia Parliament - We’re live
April 29, 2008By the time I’m done with morning chores, it’s already 10.30am. I switched on the telly to watch our very first live telecast from parliament today half and late. The live telecast wouldn’t have become a reality if the opposition had not denied Barisan Nasional it’s 2/3 majority I’m sure. The first ruckus came when the [...]
