Tape drive has its place

One of the companies we did maintenance stuff for involved handling of stacks of tape drives. It had been years since I’ve been to a local company that uses tape drives for backup. Most SMEs nowadays uses newer mediums of backup storage but you can find companies who has been around for a long time that still prefers legacy tape drives to preserve enormous amount of old data. Granted, tapes are thoroughly understood and well-supported technology. Not to mention they are still the most cost effective way to backup huge amount of data. By buying used tape drives, you can save even more money.
