• A netbook? Perhaps next year.
by Stanley, December 20, 2008
During the recent IT fair, there was a slew of netbooks on display at discounts I’ve never encountered anywhere else before. It was certainly very tempting when retailers are willing knock off a couple of hundreds of dollars or crank up the specs just to get some sales. The gripes I have with netbooks, which are very much in their first generation, is battery lifespan and limited memory. All the netbooks available on the market these days has only 1GB of computer memory and I find that limiting. And netbooks are all about portability. I’d like to be able to use it without worrying about battery life, everywhere and without worrying about the lack of electrical plug points. Guess I’ll just have to wait for next year’s IT fair to see how much progress 2nd generation of netbooks achieves at that time. I’ll pass for now.
