Anwar please speed it up!

by Stanley, October 23, 2008

I’ve not been catching up on the latest political news in Malaysia recently. First I’ve had my hands and time tied to a couple of new web projects lately and for the next couple of months I guess. And of course, since Sept 16 has come and gone, the excitement of local political events has been boring more or less.

It is even more discouraging to hear Anwar Ibrahim saying that plans to topple the BN government is to take a back seat in light of current economic slump. Instead, both sides of the government should focus on helping the economy. As reasonable as that sounds, I can’t help but feel disappointed that Pakatan Rakyat has let the pre-Sept-16’s momentum coming to a halt.

The BN government is preoccupied with keeping UMNO alive. That’s all. Do you really think they give a s**t about the country’s economy. Appointing the most unqualified man as Chief Justice is a huge blow to the credibility of UMNO government in judicial reform promises. Banning Hindraf and arresting peaceful demonstrators at will. Permitting a short fiction to be published by Utusan Malaysia, UMNO’s mouthpiece, to suggest assasinating an opposition Minister to protect religion and race is honourable. Downright rejection of ISA review. Need I say more? All of those events happened in the past month alone. What has UMNO done recently to suggest they are changing for the better? What the use of keeping this f**ked up party as government?

My wife says I’m impatient and guess what, she’s right.
