Baby tantrums, a frustrated wife and the punching bag husband

by Stanley, June 23, 2008

It’s 9.15pm and my wife has been trying to put our baby girl to bed for the past 1 hour. I’m sitting in my work area just outside the bedroom with the noise of my baby wailing at the top of her lungs refusing to sleep. I’m bracing myself for whoever comes out from that room later will not be my wife in her usual demeanour but a very frust and angry woman. It’s going to be another lousy night.

We are trying to wean our baby girl from breast milk and breaking her habit of nursing to sleep. For the past few weeks, it’s been torturous feeding her formula milk through a bottle. When night falls, it gets worst as my wife would have to deal with a very fussy baby simply reluctant to fall asleep unless being breast fed to sleep.

This is by far the worst night. She’s been crying for more than 45 minutes and my wife seemed to have lost her cool. I heard some pretty loud scoldings inside the room. I can’t blame her because if I were to put myself in her shoes, I would’ve lost it a lot earlier. Baby tantrums can simply drive you nuts.
