Fixing another faulty door knob

by Stanley, April 23, 2008

When my mom’s house was renovated back in 2004, she certainly made a mistake in terms of materials. She went for looks and never did check on quality and reliability. Take door knobs for example. I was there to replace a door knob today and if I’m not mistaken, this is the 3rd faulty one I’ve fixed. I adviced her repeatedly during the renovation to choose quality and reliabilty over aesthetics. Did she listen? No.

I replaced the faulty door knob with a Schlage passage lever (chrome) door knob which is fairly expensive, at $80. But I’ve seen these buggers, installed and used for more than 10 years, still performing as good as new. So people, pay for quality, not for looks.
