My friend’s new PC

by admin, April 26, 2008

My friend bought a new PC today. The specs were Pentium Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB DDR2 667Mhz RAM, 250GB HDD and the rest pretty standard stuff. The motherboard is a bit too shabby, all-in-one with built-in video and soundcard. So safe to say, audio and video, especially gaming wise, sucks.

He wanted to play some of the latest game titles really bad, so I suggested he gets middle-of-the-range graphics card at the very least. Games could do without the best audio but never inadequate graphics card. The built-in soundcard is really really bad I’ve to admit. He seems to think so too. An RM100 Soundblaster Audigy Value would do wonders here.

I’ve also mentioned about getting an additional 2GB DDR2 667Mhz RAM to make it 4GB in total. DDR2 667Mhz RAM are so cheap nowadays, it won’t hurt the pocket to max out memory to make your PC more future-proof. He runs Vista anyway, so the more memory the better off he’ll be.

I’ll be hopping over to his house to help him work his way around the internet. For someone new to having broadband at home, it’s gonna be pretty exciting.
