• National protection for Proton about to end?
by admin, May 13, 2008
The Malaysian government today teased us that Proton will no longer enjoy protectionism in our local car market. It was announced by our prime minister at the Parliament on Tuesday. I should among those jumping for joy but knowing our government, I’ve learned to believe only when I see plans being implemented for good. In other words, I don’t buy it. In fact, I glanced at the headlines and didn’t even bother to check it out further. I firmly believe given Proton’s management lack of capabilities, it will never survive the cutthroat global car market. Certainly not with our current model selection which is absolute rubbish. Don’t be too quick to think that you can buy 3-series BMW at half price. That’s all I wanna put down.
