• Zaid Ibrahim punished by UMNO for his fight to abolish ISA

The evening news I am watching now started off with reports on UMNO issuing Zaid Ibrahim a show cause letter for his unrelentless push for ISA abolishment. The most powerful political weapon in UMNO’s arsenal is the ISA and it is apparent they will fight tooth and nail to preserve such draconic tool in order to shut up those who oppose the government. Given that those who oppose argues based on truth, facts and validity, UMNO has many times resort to the ISA to save their own skin because they simply can’t argue back. Sounds like typical school bullies relying more on his fist than wits don’t they? That’s UMNO to you.

On a different note, my pals were discussing over how Obama represents such a radical change in US government matters especially on it’s multi-racial front. I held on to my belief that it would take decades or a century to see Malaysia accepting a non-Malay as Prime Minister. By then, if our government remains status quo, and we have UMNO ruling for another decade or two, our country would be ruined beyond repair there’ll be no hope of Malaysia ever emulating the USA. But … the issue of Malay or non-Malay as PM doesn’t bother me much. Say, if we have someone like the fella I mentioned above, Zaid Ibrahim for instance as PM, I believe we’ll be in good hands. Or Anwar Ibrahim for that matter. There are hoardes of right thinking Malays out there and on the other hand, we have the UMNO-ultra Malays. However, it’s wishful thinking to hope that one or two individuals like Zaid Ibrahim can go against an entire corrupted UMNO regime. So my bet is still with Pakatan Rakyat.
