• Malaysian GNP vs Singapore GNP in 2009
by Stanley, September 3, 2009
I stole these numbers from Kit Siang’s blog. These numbers paints a gloomy picture of how Malaysia lags behind other developed nations. And by that I mean real and proven developed nations. Unlike those that brag about how close they are to developed nation status.
GNP per Capita in US Dollars.
USA = US$35,400
United Kingdom = US$25,510
Singapore = US$20,690
Australia = US$19,530
Malaysia = US$3,540
The truth is, we have lost massive amount of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). With our rampant corruption, racial inequality, braindrain, BN misgovernance, massive wastage of funds, mismanagement of natural resources … who wants to invest in our country? I don’t even blame corporations who are shutting down and moving their resources to neighbouring ASEAN countries.
Just bloody look at this comparison …
Malaysia’s GNP US$3,540 vs Singapore’s GNP US$20,690
… any Malaysian would have been left speechless and downright humiliated. Singaporeans are arrogant, brag about their country and ridiculing Malaysia? It hurts me to say, we deserve it. After all, we let Barisan Nasional lead us to ruins for half a century.
Can we afford to let our nation’s economy rot further? Who’s going to inherit Malaysia beyond 2020? Our children that’s who. And it seems inevitable that our children will have a tougher time making a living here than we did.
I have often wanted to change my blog’s title. For now I’m afraid it remains so. Malaysia still sucks.
