Regret selling Carl Zeiss lenses

by Stanley, November 5, 2009

My interest in photography was sparked more than ten years ago when I bought my first compact camera, a Yashica T5 which took absolutely pinsharp and colourful photographs. My next camera was an SLR and my first lens was the Carl Zeiss Distagon 35mm f2.8. The next few years saw me acquiring more Zeiss lenses - a 28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4 and 135 f2.8.

After my daughter was born, I sold all my camera equipment because I rarely had the time to indulge in my hobby. At that time digital cameras began to flood the market and manual film cameras were on their way out. So it was time to sell my film cameras.

One of my regret is selling my manual Carl Zeiss lenses. Those lenses were absolutely wonderful and took sharp and contrasty photographs. I should have kept at least the 28mm and 50mm, my favourites. I can easily buy an adaptor to use these Carl Zeiss lenses on digital Nikon or Canon cameras.
