Samsung 2233sw base stand sucks

by Stanley, February 8, 2009

Its been nearly a month since I bought my new 21.5″ LCD monitor. Its a Samsung 2233sw with an impressive 1920 x 1080 FullHD resolution. I upgraded from a 17′ LCD monitor so the difference in screen size was quite a pleasant experience.

Before buying my new Samsung LCD, I’ve read reviews and feedbacks regarding it’s base mount where it is said to be a pain to setup. You do need quite a bit of strength to force the base mount into the LCD unit but it wasn’t as difficult as it sounds. After all, its just a one time struggle.

What really does annoy me most in the long run is that the base mount is really wobbly. My computer table is far from stable and sturdy. So unless your table is rock solid, the slightest movement will cause the Samsung LCD to sway left and right. I’m contemplating removing the base mount and fix my LCD unit onto a TV wall mount or something.

If you read this Samsung, give us a more solid base mount in the future will ya?

  1. I got one, and it was really a pain to screw its tiny stick into its fat ass.

    allan,
  2. I bought the 2233sw a couple of days ago and bought a wall mount with an articulating arm. It extends from the wall max. 15 inches. It was pretty easy to install. I took the base off the monitor. The whole base including the bulb that fits snuggly into the base of the monitor itself. I’m glad I did this. I bought the wall mount @ costco for $75.00. All other places for equal quality were around $90.

    Highly recommended.
