• She’s got herself a dog
by Stanley, April 17, 2009
My friend adopted a puppy recently. A two-month old pug from a vet. I didn’t know she wanted a dog as she didn’t strike me as a pet lover, let alone shown any interest in getting herself a dog companion. It cost nearly RM1K to properly adopt a dog these days. The health procedures it had to go through is responsible for a huge chunk of the money paid. The dog cage alone is about R350 if I heard correctly and it’s not even what you’d call huge. A year down the road, the dog would probably outgrow its confines. Then there’s dog supplies - shampoos, vitamins, dog food, accessories. And the optional training programs to put their dog through in order to make them really obedient and all. Sometimes, rearing a dog can cost as much as bringing up a human baby or toddler. Depends how much you are willing to spend on your dog of course but I’ve seen quite a number of friends who wouldn’t think twice before splurging on the best things for their pets.
