• Steven Gan of MalaysiaKini questioned by MCMC over cow head temple protest videos
by Stanley, September 5, 2009
Malaysian Information, Communications and Culture Ministry (MCMC) entered MalaysiaKini premise today to question Steven Gan, editor-in-chief of Malaysiakini.com, over his refusal to remove a video clip showing the “cow-head” protest by Shah Alam Section 23 residents against a Hindu temple to be built there.

Nothing pisses me off more than government threats against freedom of press, especially when it comes to the internet. The last bastion of hope and truth in journalism without cover ups. I applaud Steven of MalaysiaKini.com for holding his ground and refusal to remove the cow head protest video clips.
It is common knowledge when Malaysian government decides to cover up something, you can be sure it’s going to be something dirty. The authorities are deluding themselves if they think they have the power to cover up all their wrong-doings in this age of the internet. There’s no stopping any video clips once it hits cyberworld.
It’s no surprise this is another trick in the bag of UMNO in their process of staging a Selangor coup. UMNO, you’ve gone too far for instigating this protest. How could you show such extreme disrespect for another religion? The cow is a sacred animal for Hindus and Buddhists. Go ahead with the protest for all I care but to behead a sacred animal, and have it spit and stomped on the ground … that’s highly offensive and disrespectful.
