• Water cut on the morning of Chinese New Year eve
by Stanley, January 24, 2009
It is 10.30am in the morning on the Chinese New Year’s Eve. One of the busiest and most important days for Chinese families around the world as we prepare our reunion feast to be enjoyed later in the evening. Unfortunately, we woke up this morning with our water supply problem still unrepaired. I slept late last night. The water was cut at around 1.45am. I figured by the time I wake up in the morning, the problem should be fixed. Guess I was wrong.
I called to report the water cut at 10am and was greeted by a young man saying the repairs have yet to even begin as they are still looking for the source of the problem. This wasn’t the sort of responce I’d like to receive. Water cuts are frequent in my area and I’ve totally lost confidence in our local water works department. But showing their incompetency on Chinese New Year’s eve is too much to tolerate.
