• My terrible two daughter is sick and it’s scary
by Stanley, January 6, 2010
My worst nightmare is upon us again. My wife and I dread the very thought of our two-and-a-half year old daughter falling sick. Two months ago, right after my wife gave birth to our baby boy, she got sick due to food poisoning. There was so much crying and wailing around the house, it would drive anyone nuts. Now two months later, we’re facing the same situation again.
Being a terrible two kid, and a sick one at that, is our worst nightmare. Everything we asks her to do, she’d refuse. Eat porridge … No! Drink juice … No! Wash your face … No! Change your clothes … No! And worst of all … medicine time. It’s like we’re forcing acid into her mouth.
Despite all our efforts, her fever is not still not going away. We’re going to bring her to the doctor again tomorrow for further observation.
We are two very tired parents. We’re physically and mentally taxed due to the constant need to persuade and coax our daughter to do even simple things. Which usually end up with us scolding and forcing her to do it. We have no choice. And also the sight of her tired body and lingering fever is worrying.
At the end of the day, there’s tons of household chores waiting for us - dirty dishes, dirty clothes to wash, clean clothes to fold and sort out, garbage, a dusty and greasy floor to mop, baby bottles and utensils to wash and sterilize … I’m not that far from having a nervous breakdown, trust me.
