• Spring cleaning before Chinese New Year
by Stanley, February 7, 2010
Yea its that time of the year again which I dread. It’s customary to have your house cleaned and clutter-free in time for Chinese New Year as it is believed its brings good chi. Hence good fortune and auspicious luck in the coming new year.
In the next couple of days, we are going to wake up a few hours earlier every morning. We need those extra hours because most of our time during the day is spent taking care of our kids. That leaves us with very little free time to do anything else.
I started by cleaning two of our toilets today. While the kids are taking an afternoon nap, my wife took care of getting rid of unwanted books and toys. Tomorrow, we’ll start by cleaning a small section of our kitchen. The rest of the week will see us washing the curtains, mowing the lawn, cleaning the windows, furniture and electrical items, and de-cluttering our home. Hopefully by the end of next week, we’ll wrap up spring cleaning and bid welcome to an auspicious Chinese New Year.
