Wisdom tooth cavity filled

by Stanley, February 5, 2010

I’m scared of dentists. Always have been. The thought of being confined to a chair at a dentist’s mercy scares me. That is why I’ve always procrastinated visiting a dentist to have my teeth’s checked, for years now. But I paid the price for ignorance.

More than a year ago my wisdom tooth started to give me a bit of sensation. It hurts whenever I chew on something hard. I know my wisdom tooth is in trouble. But I have no idea how bad it is.

My wife and I went to our dentist’s appointments this morning. She had two cavity filled. I had my wisdom tooth checked. I was told my wisdom is badly damaged and a large cavity needs filling. He even gave me a mirror to see for myself how big the cavity was. If I had delayed treating it any longer, weeks or a couple of months more, I would start to experience throbbing pain. It hurts when the dentist cleaned the plague and dirt before applying the filling.

I am so glad its now over. I bit the bullet and forced myself to fix my tooth. It’s only going to get worse I told myself. One thing’s for sure, I have to visit a dentist more regularly. Not years apart. That way, I won’t have to face cavities the size of golf balls.
