I bought the iPad

by Stanley, March 12, 2011

I bought the iPad last week a couple of days after the price cut. RM400 discount is just too tempting and the model I bought is 16GB WiFi, no 3G. The lowest model in the range will be my first step into Apple world.

My daughter warmed up to it in no time. She enjoys the children games, interactive books, drawing apps and puzzles. The iPad keeps her entertained for a few hours every day since we bought it. In fact, she spends more time with the iPad than I do.

I have yet to explore Apple’s productivity apps. I find the virtual keyboard pretty much impossible to touch type. There’s no tactile feedback and that disturbs me. I could barely type one sentence at full speed without mistakes. So it is obvious I need a physical keyboard to do some real writing work. And I am tempted by Apple’s stylish wireless bluetooth keyboard.

My daughter likes the iPad

February 25, 2011
My daughter finally got a taste of playing games on an iPad yesterday. She went to a classmate’s birthday party and one of her classmates brought along an iPad. It got all her classmate’s attention when she started playing games with it. She absolutely loved what she saw and not surprisingly, she asked if she [...]

My unlocked AMD Sempron 140 ‘Sargas’ is stable

February 25, 2011
From the day I unlocked it, I’ve ran countless hours of stress testing using several programs. Whenever I leave my PC tending to other chores, I’d start to stress test my unlocked Sempron 140. Duration of tests depend on how long I’d be away from the PC. I’ve ran 30 mins up to 8 hours [...]

Engadget lowering iPad 2 speculations

February 24, 2011
As 2nd of March draws near, Engadget has lowered expectations of what improvements we’ll see in iPad 2. According to their so-called reliable sources, Engadget is speculating the iPad 2 won’t spot a higher resolution or SD card slot. I was looking forward to a hi-res Retina display screen upgrade. So much hype went into retina [...]

WiFi only tablets suit my needs for now

February 22, 2011
The recent buzz about how awesome the Motorola Xoom tablet made me look into alternative choices apart from Apple iPad. The Xoom is impressive in specs no doubt. But one very apparent gripe I have about Motorola Xoom is the lack of Wi-Fi only model. I have no intention of paying for 3G internet plan [...]

CityVille is launched!

December 4, 2010
But no without delays and bugs unfortunately. Don’t rush into the game as it feels buggy and slow to me. That’s my first impression of CityVille. But it’s so new I’d forgive them. Ever since Zynga announced they are coming out with a city-building game I’ve been eagerly waiting for it. It’s too early for me [...]

Looking forward to Zynga’s Cityville

November 30, 2010
When it comes to Facebook gaming, Farmville is the bomb. For a couple of weeks, I was entralled by Farmville and managed to level up to 20+. But my interest slowly waned. Each round of crops replanting takes more than 10 minutes of clicking. Time is kind of a luxury to me now. So apart [...]
