As far as cutting tools go, ceramic knives rank right up there among the best and sharpest knives. It is highly popular not only because it is sharp as hell, but perhaps more well known to be able to maintain it far longer than knives made from other materials. Reading the reviews about ceramic knives, Kyocera ones in particular, has perked my interest in buying one to try and experience it myself. The only thing though is to convince my wife to buy a knife that costs several times as much as a normal knife is asking for.

Giving me huge discounts when use them to buy online. My wife won a couple of coupons from an online jackpot. I would probably use them to buy loosely fit clothing. Some t-shirts would be nice. The last pair of straight cut jeans I bought online were sized a bit off. So I refrain from buying stuff I need to try out in a fitting room from online stores.

For this year’s wedding anniversary, I bought a pair of platinum earrings for my wife. It wasn’t as expensive as say diamond earrings for women, but she loves it nonetheless. We wanted to celebrate it over a nice dinner for two but because our family members are all back for Chinese New Year, we had to cancel it. Instead, we spent the night dining with family at a chinese restaurant in typical fashion. Perhaps, if we could arrange for someone to babysit our kids, we’ll have a nice quiet dinner for two next week.

Last week I bought 2 sticks of 8GB DDR3 RAM for my desktop PC. Before this, all I had was 2GB which is the bare minimum these days. After a few hours of browsing, I’ll be close to the limit and I could sense the OS thrashing my HDD’s pagefile. My system slows down considerably when my RAM limit is hit.

RAM prices are very cheap nowadays. So most people who are buying a new PC wouldn’t think twice of putting 8GB RAM into their CPUs.

My system feels a lot smoother and slightly faster with 8GB. Especially with multiple programs running at the same time. Switching back and forth with no lag. I could browse for days without closing the browser and have tons of memory left. My computer feels good again, I should have bought them earlier.

Now that I’m not renting anymore, I am moving all my stuff to my house. There are stacks of stuff from my teenage years. I used to collect sports memorabilia, CDs, DVDs and more. 3 boxes filled to the brim with football and tennis stuff - from Wimbledon shirts to Roland Garros umbrellas and tennis to RFK stadium cufflinks and many more. I have forgotten most of these stuff as I’ve not seen them for many years.

When my parents buy clothes for my kids, they always go two or three sizes bigger. Does that happen to you? It can get pretty annoying. Every time they buy clothes for their grandkids, we put them away in the wardrobe and it’ll stay there for at least a year before the kids grow into them. Their rationale, as usual, is that kids grow up fast and out grow their clothes quickly. Well, clothes stay just fine in the cupboard for a long time but shoes on the other hand, might not. They bought a pair of boys dress shoes so big that I’ve kept it in cupboard for more than two years. When my boy is big enough to wear it, the sole has already started to peel and I have to send it to the cobbler to have it fixed.

Our new sofa arrived today. It’s a coffee coloured 3 + 2 + 1 seater synthetic leather sofa, replacing the old fabric sofa.

The furniture shop was having a clearance sale, whether or not its true I have no idea, and this set had a 30% discount. My wife liked it and I like the price tag even more so we picked it pretty much straight away. She also ordered a 10-compartment wardrobe for the kid’s room.

But the 3-seater was damaged upon arrival. It had a huge hole the size of a finger at the base. We were very busy that morning and by the time we realise the damage, the delivery staff had already left. I rang the furniture shop immediately. They agree to replace the 3-seater as soon as possible, no questions asked to my relief.

We bought another pair of titanium partnership rings yesterday. Didn’t plan to buy any rings really but the Chinese New Year discount were too good to resists. These rings retail at 800 bucks normally but we got it for less than 250. The design and finish of our titanium rings are fantastic. The surface is matte with a thin line of black resin inlay all around in the center. My wife’s ring is thinner and slimmer and doesn’t have the black resin line. Giving it a cleaner and less-is-more look. Titanium is a very hardy material. Rings made from titanium stand up well to every day wear and tear.

Kids fight over the most insignificant things just for the sake of fighting. At least mine does. All the fking time. Just last night, they fought over my daughter’s preschool lapel custom pins. It’s nothing new, she’s had it for more than a year already. But out of the blue, my son grabs it for no apparent reason. And so they fought and both ended up wailing. They were scolded alright. Everytime I see them two playing together and just when it seems they are having a good time and a laugh, one of them will end up crying. And when these happen several times a day, it drives me up the wall.

This is the middle of the second school week. My mornings are less noisy with my daughter in school. Eventhough my son is around but without her sister to play with, he’s less excited and less playful. Which means less distraction and more time for me to maintain train of thoughts when working.

I am so glad holidays are over. Having two playful kids who scream, run around, talk incessantly, cry, fight, demands your attention every minute from morning till night is a headache. It constantly keeps you on the edge. Piling on stress that will make you mental and depressed.

Now that school is back, I’m hoping to regain more headspace, time and peace of mind. Even if it’s just a short few hours in the morning, I’m going to appreciate every second of it.
